"I think books are like people, in the sense that they’ll turn up in your life when you most need them."
– Emma Thompson
George O'Donnell, the author of Manhattan Manhunt, stopped in for a 30 person Book Club meeting in our theater. "I loved it and can't wait to run my book club meeting on February 29th", Resident, Stanley Hirsh shared.
In 2011, Stanley wrote a book in his 80’s, named Memoirs of a Geriatric Ski Bum. More details to come regarding his event. George O’Donnell is a distant constant of our Recreation Director, Annemarie Hegarty, and jumped on the fact The Regency was highlighting local authors including our resident authors: Patricia Schof -2/22 and Stanley Hirsch-2/29. George spent the afternoon talking about his book that tells the behind-the-scenes story of the intense police manhunt for international jewel thieves juxtaposed to the inner workings of the elusive crime organization. Led by Major Case Squad Detective Bobby Walsh, the police are on the hunt for Bardyllis “the Bard” Leka, the ringleader behind the ever-mounting heists. The chase goes on for months with near misses and harrowing escapes until the K-9 capture of accomplices leads to big break in the case. Will the heists finally stop? Will the Bard be captured by the police or taken out by his own men?
Manhattan Manhunt is a fictional novel inspired by a real-life arrest. In April 1993, Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PAPD) Police Officer George O’Donnell and his K-9 partner, Billon, arrested three international jewel thieves.
