Healthy Eating for Seniors at The Regency

Chef Pat Marone Cooking Light for Seniors

Executive Chef Pat Marone doing one of his famous Cooking Light for Seniors Demos for the Residents

The Regency at Glen Cove Senior Living Community boasts a Royal Dining program for our residents that rivals some of New York’s famous restaurants. Our meals are prepared by gourmet chef Pat Marone and under the nutritional guidance of a diet professional to ensure that our residents can enjoy a healthy dining experience. Chef Pat has introduced a new approach to the senior dining experience, implementing many changes that enhance The Regency Cuisine. His flavorful menu appeals to a wide range of seniors without infringing on their dietary restriction.
Why is it so important for Seniors to have a Healthy Diet?
According to the National Institute on Aging, a healthy diet for seniors reduces the risk of osteoporosis, high blood pressure, heart diseases and certain cancers. According to The National Stroke Association, healthy eating will help you manage your weight and blood pressure which are crucial to preventing strokes and staying healthy. There are also studies that link healthy eating with the prevention of Alzheimer’s. Harvard-trained Neurologist Dr. Richard Isaacson and Nutrition-expert Dr. Christopher Ochner (Columbia University) have published The Alzheimer's Diet with a detailed diet aimed to reduce Alzheimer's risk, enhance memory, and improve overall brain and body health.
