Regency Residents Love HorseAbility at SUNY Old Westbury

HorseAbility at SUNY Old Westbury

Irene and her son-in-law Robbie with Joey

Regency residents, led by Recreation Director, Erica Ferrara, really loved participating in the HorseAbility Therapeutic Riding Program over at SUNY Old Westbury this year. HorseAbility is a non-profit organization which offers a wide range of horse-related programs for children, adults and families that promote the physical, psychological, emotional, social and spiritual wellbeing of its participants. Time spent with horses offers a unique activity within a relaxing, enjoyable atmosphere that enhances health, independence and personal well-being.
Residents especially like petting and grooming the horses. They also enjoy making treats for them and drawing pictures of them for their families. Regency resident Irene, who grew up on a farm in South Dakota, loves spending time with the horses more than almost anything else! It brings back so many happy memories for her. Her son-in-law Robbie volunteers at HorseAbility and has been in the horse business for many years. He helped to get The Regency involved in this wonderful program. HorseAbility will be holding their annual gala on November 15th at the Crest Hollow Country Club.
