Regency University Graduation Ceremony at The Regency of Glen Cove

Glen Cove Senior Living Regency Graduation
On Wednesday, July 17th, The Regency at Glen Cove Senior Living Community celebrated the culmination of its Winter/Spring 2013 Regency University Educational Seminar Series. Regency residents enjoyed learning about a wide range of topics such as: Landmarks & Historic Sites of Long Island, Healthy Happy Hour and a Rainforest Butterfly Program to name a few. Recreation Director, Erica Kyriakopoulos, aims to cover many different subject areas in the curriculum each semester. She truly enjoys seeing residents learning and asking questions of the educators.
The Regency was honored to have Carol Waldman, Executive Director of the Glen Cove Senior Center, as the keynote speaker this semester. She enjoyed spending time with the residents and handing out the diplomas to each person. Carol’s heartfelt speech was very emotional. She explained how proud she felt of everyone for their enthusiasm and desire to still learn at this point in their lives. She recalled a past conversation with resident Fannie Greenberg who lived to be 113 years old. Carol asked Fannie what her secret to life was. Fannie replied, “to remain open to all experiences and to always continue to take things in and be willing to learn”. Carol stated that the residents truly exemplified these qualities with their participation in Regency University.
Erica Kyriakopoulos and Regency Administrator Beth Evans congratulated all of the participants as well. Everyone is looking forward to the next semester which will begin after summer break in September. Poetry and Criminal Justice will be among some of the subject areas covered. Regency University is always free and open to the public. Please call 516-674-3007 for more information.
