Resident Spotlight: Happy Birthday Helen Bisom!

Helen Bisom was born on September 6, 1923 and spent her childhood in Philadelphia. As a young child, she was given elocution lessons and became a child star in the Yiddish theatre. She played with the character actor Simon Wolf and the beloved Molly Picon.
Helen, along with her late husband, Harold, owned a stationery and gift store called The Red Arrow, which was named after Harold’s army unit during WWII. Together they raised three daughters.
In her spare time Helen was an avid reader and a superb baker. Her home was a hubbub for family and kids. She was always able to console those neighborhood children whose parents were not always there with a listening ear. For many years Helen was known as a great knitter. Everyone was thrilled to receive a baby sweater specially designed by Helen for their new little bundle.
Everyone at The Regency would like to sincerely thank Helen’s daughters, Michele and Sona, for all of the special, delicious treats they are always bringing in to share with residents and staff. Their kindness and generosity is so very appreciated by all. We are so happy they have become a special part of our Regency family.
