The Regency Welcomes Historical Impressionist Peter Small

224On Wednesday, May 13th, Historical Impressionist Peter Small visited The Regency to bring history to life as Theodore Roosevelt. Theodore Roosevelt was a hunter, conservationist, warrior, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, family man and one of our most dynamic Presidents. Peter, wearing a hat, a mustache (fake), spectacles, a vest, and long-tailed coat spoke for over 45 minutes about President Theodore Roosevelt’s life. Beginning with his childhood bouts of asthma, he told the president’s story including leading the charge at San Juan, Cuba in the Spanish-American War, and all about his presidency. He finished his presentation near the end of Roosevelt’s life in 1919. Regency residents really enjoyed Peter’s performance and felt that it was such an “interesting and entertaining” way to learn about history.
Peter Small believes that it is people who make history happen. While teaching history in the greater Los Angeles and Washington D.C. areas, he developed his program with costumed presentations for his classes, which became memorable and enjoyable lessons for his students. Peter has performed nationally for a wide range of audiences, including the Ronald Reagan, George Bush, Richard Nixon and Herbert Hoover Presidential Libraries and has appeared on the History Channel. He is currently an adjunct instructor for the North Orange County Community College in California.
This seminar was part of our Regency University educational seminar series. To find out more about what is going on at The Regency please visit our website at www.theregencyatglencove.com.
