On Wednesday, March 21st The Regency at Glen Cove hosted a Veteran’s Program in conjunction with the Glen Cove Rotary. They served a gourmet lunch, had a showing of the film “Flag of My Father” which features Gigi Erranata, a Glen Cove Rotarian herself, and a short talk about Post Traumatic Stress following the film with noted psychologist Dr. Phyllis Zilkha about “Thoughts and Reflections” where some veterans in the audience shared personal stories about their time in service. As a special guest, Mr. Robert Staada brought and shared his extensive collection of military memorabilia for viewing. Operation Initiative is the program the Glen Cove Rotary has been working on, raising awareness for all the assistance and benefits veterans are entitled to. This event was a great way of kicking it off. All in attendance had a wonderful experience. The film brought back some proud moments for the veterans and this event was a heartfelt way to show appreciation for all of our servicemen.
