What’s New in Recreation at The Regency

Happy New Year!  Residents have been keeping very busy here at The Regency.  From festive holiday celebrations to trips and fabulous entertainment- they have been doing it all!
Everyone really got into the spirit this year with our annual holiday parties and even a special visit from Santa and his elves!  Residents enjoyed hearing the Girl Scouts sing Christmas Carols and the Glen Cove High School’s Jazz Concert performance.  And of course, the Secret Santa Party and nightly lighting of the menorah for Hanukkah were also a hit! We would also like to thank all of the residents, families and employees who contributed to our Holiday Toy Drive to benefit the Glen Cove Boys and Girls Club.  They were so grateful that we helped them make the holiday brighter for so many local families.
Some residents enjoyed going on shopping and lunch trips to Target, TJ Maxx and Wild Fig throughout the month.  There were also many vendors here at The Regency to help residents get their holiday shopping done.  And there were 2 extra special outings to see Mary Poppins at the John W. Engeman Theatre at Northport and The Nutcracker at Hofstra University.  They were both truly extraordinary performances!
And of course, December wouldn’t be December without our annual New Year’s celebration.  With a champagne toast, hors d’oeuvres, music and noisemakers everyone said goodbye to 2016 and happily welcomed 2017 together.
Now that the new year is here there are many more fun activities and celebrations to look forward to this January and February.  In January, there will be a Roaring 20’s Day and Chinese New Year Celebration.  In February, our annual Healthy Heart Week will take center stage along with the Valentine’s Day Sweetheart Dance where The Regency’s new King and Queen will be crowned.  They will have the chance to represent The Regency and ride in the Glen Cove St. Patrick’s Day Parade.  So, don’t forget to come by the Regency to watch the parade and help us cheer them on.  It is always a fun afternoon!
