What’s New in Recreation at The Regency

Residents have really been busy here at The Regency.  From fun outings and trips to fabulous entertainment- they have been doing it all!  Everyone enjoyed going out to lunch at Grand Lux Café and shopping at Marshalls.  Heading to the Glen Cove Cinemas and spending time with the beautiful horses at SUNY Old Westbury’s HorseAbility program was also a big hit.
In October, residents went on some really fantastic trips to the Cradle of Aviation Museum and Resorts World Casino.  A good time was had by all!  And this month’s Regency University seminar was really out of this world! It was all about Living in Space and was presented by the Cradle of Aviation Museum.
Everyone was also treated to a lot of entertainment back at home base.  There were fun musical performances and celebrations throughout the month.  There was a whole day dedicated to Oktoberfest.  Residents enjoyed making pretzels and eating yummy bratwurst and sauerkraut sliders while listening to German music and learning all about the history of Oktoberfest and doing trivia as well.  We also had an Apple and Pumpkin Creations Baking Contest which staff members participated in.  Residents judged and picked a winner…  Congratulations to Gia Garcia for winning with her Amazing Apple Cake!  A perfect autumn recipe.
And of course, October wouldn’t be October without a Halloween celebration, or in this case, two!  On Saturday, the 29th neighborhood children joined us for Spooky Story Hour and Trick or Treating.  It’s always fun to see the kids in their cute costumes.  And on Halloween, residents really got into the spirit!  There were some very clever costumes, like Elaine, who was a bumblebee with different words pinned all over her….  She was a spelling bee!
And last, but definitely not least, we would like to welcome aboard a new member of our Recreation team, Ilana Konel.  Ilana is a recent graduate of Drexel University.  She is enjoying getting to know everyone.  We are so happy to have her as a new addition to our Regency Family!
You can always see the full Recreation Calendar on our website at www.theregencyatglencove.com, just click on Social Activities under Experience the Regency.  A great big thank you goes out to our amazing Recreation team for all of their hard work.  We are all looking forward to seeing what other activities John has planned for the rest of the year!
