Resident Mei Fleischer celebrated her birthday like it was 1999 today! Actually, she celebrated her 99th birthday in style.
Our Safe Harbor community was bouncing with excitement as Mei, a world-famous ballerina who also danced other genres including Hindu, Hawaiian and belly dance was honored. The dining room was decorated with balloons and banners and her daughter, Rona, brought in posters boards with beautiful pictures of Mei as a young woman that were used for her family party that took place the day before.
Mei moved to the United States when she was 30 years old and traveled the world with her husband and daughter including living in Hawaii and Tokyo. At 99 years young, Mei treated us all with a beautiful dance while playing the castanets.
“She was in her element. Mei closed her eyes, and her fingers took over. It was hard not to yet emotional,” Erica Ferrara, Safe Harbor Director shared. It was a beautiful day that was fit for a queen or even a ballerina!
